Sometimes a glittering career hides some of the saddest stories. A winner of the USA and World championships in hurdle events, Lolo Jones has reached her current position after many years of hard work and an enormous amount of perseverance. Jones is a child born into a family of no mothers and had five children living in poverty and hardship when she was a kid, endured an extremely difficult early life. Her mother was constantly on the move as well as having lived in the basement of a church for a short length of time. Jones, who lived a nomadic and mobile life up until she enrolled in high school, had to transfer to a brand new school annually. Jones who was interested in track and field events at Theodore Roosevelt High School, stayed away from her mom to follow her passion. Jones was a resident of four residences during her high school time to pursue her education in one place. Jones was part of the Orchestra of Iowa and the Gatorade Track and Field Award. Also, she was awarded this award at the school. Jones was among the top hurdlers at the time she entered the college. She was the winner of the 100-meter hurdle at the 2002 NCAA Track & Field Championship. She was also an athlete which placed 2nd in the 100 meters relay. In 2003 and 2004 Jones was the winner of the indoor hurdles event at the NCAA Championship. Jones began her track career in 2005 when she completed her studies at the university. Jones took home the Torino Memorial in 2005, in addition to Ostrava and Heusden tracks events the following year.

Brandt, who was raised within Cape Town South Africa with her siblings and parents, moved to Auckland New Zealand when she was in her late teens. Lesley Brandt moved along with her family and friends into Auckland New Zealand in 1999. In Auckland she began working as a retail person then be promoted to the position of IT manager consultant. Lesley's first job was a handful of modeling projects. Her appearances then included countless commercial advertisements.
